Keine Pressefreiheit im Irak

Bei all den Schweinereien, die aktuell beleuchtet werden, wurde diese Story in der "New York Times" bisher übersehen: "WASHINGTON, Dec. 2 - The military acknowledged Friday in a briefing for a ranking Senate Republican that news articles written by American troops had been placed as paid advertisements in the Iraqi news media and not always properly identified."

Im Irak braucht man langsam eine freie Presse, aber die Besatzungsmacht betreibt lieber Propaganda und plant die Bombardierung des Fernsehsenders Al Jazeera. Was kommt noch? Die Wiedereinführung der Sklaverei in US-Kolonien?

FILM:

"Homecoming" - Zombies erobern Washington

zombie soldiers rock the vote

"Homecoming is a full-frontal assault on the Bush administration, and about as subtle -- and bracing -- as a punch to the jaw. Adapted by Sam Hamm from Dale Bailey's short story "Death and Suffrage" -- but also vaguely reminiscent of Irwin Shaw's 1936 anti-war play "Bury the Dead" -- Dante's hour darkly satirizes zombie movie conventions, as dead soldiers arise to vote against the politicians who shipped them off to war. (Variety)"

Sounds like Masters of Horror is a fun show in general. Check the roster of directors! Episode 2 was "Dreams in the Witch House" by H.P. Lovecraft with Stuart Gordon as a director.

Today is the National Day of Counter-Recruitment

"Campus Anti-War Network is calling for actions around the country to show the federal government that they cannot intimidate schools for kicking out military recruiters. On December 6, the Supreme Court will hear the FAIR v Rumsfeld case (brought by several universities), which will decide whether schools can ban military recruiters without losing federal funding. Currently, the Solomon Amendment allows the government to cut off federal funding from schools that ban military recruiters. This policy forces schools to accept military recruitment, even though the military's anti-gay "don't ask, don't tell" policy violates university anti-discrimination policies."

France to deport seven foreign rap artists

Mon, December 5, 2005 By AP

"PARIS -- Seven foreigners will likely be deported from France soon for their roles in recent unrest that hit poor French suburbs, Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy said yesterday.

Other foreigners risk expulsion, the minister said in an interview on French television in which he came down in favour of punishment for rappers whose songs incite hate among youths living on the margins of society.

Sarkozy, known for his tough law and order approach, has been criticized by human rights groups and the opposition left for wanting to deport foreigners -- legal or not -- who took part in the three weeks of unrest in late October and early November marked by thousands of arson attacks.

Sarkozy said on television 83 foreigners had been arrested but 40 of them can't be deported because of their age, their status as political refugees or the lengthy time they had spent in France.

"Seven proceedings are finishing up," he said, and the seven will "likely" be expelled.

Sarkozy voiced support for legislators who want rap singers sanctioned for allegedly inciting hate and violence among youths living in suburban housing projects.

"There are inadmissible phrases and we don't have to accept them," Sarkozy said. "It's not because you're young, you do rap, that you should be exonerated from the risk of sanctions."

"Eminem Impersonator Kills Woman, Stuffs Her In Suitcase"

"ONDON -- An Eminem impersonator who beat a woman to death and stuffed her body in a suitcase is facing life in prison.

Christopher Duncan, 21, has the same hair style and tattoos as the rapper. He pleaded guilty in London on Thursday to killing 26-year-old law student Jagdip Najran.

A prosecutor said they met at a karaoke bar last year. Duncan took Najran back to his apartment and beat her over the head with an iron baseball bat until she fell unconscious, then stuffed her body into a suitcase. Duncan reportedly told police he was high on Ecstasy and LSD at the time.

In the video for Eminem's "Stan," an obsessive fan ties up his girlfriend, throws her in the trunk of his car and drives it over a bridge."
