Richard Pryor stand dagegen nicht mit dem Paten Frank Sinatra auf einer Bühne und er wollte auch nicht bei den Bleichgesichtern mitmachen. Dazu konnte man seiner Zunge keine Fesseln anlegen und Richard Pryor belegte all die Themenfelder, von denen man im spießigen Amerika sonst nur hinter vorgehaltener Hand spricht. Sex, Drogen und Titel wie "That Nigger's Crazy" machten Pryor zum Hoffnungsträger der schwarzen 70er. Ohne ihn hätte es keinen Eddie Murphy oder Dave Chappelle gegeben. All das wird man heute in zahlreichen Nachrufen lesen können. In Deutschland kennt man ihn meist nur aus Filmen wie "Zum Teufel mit den Kohlen" oder "Superman III", aber Pryor war vor allem ein unverschämten Schandmaul mit rasiermesserscharfem Witz und der Geschwindigkeit eines Maschinengewehrs.

Er war aber nicht einfach nur die 70er-Version von Samy Davis jr. und schwarzer Aushängeclown. Richard Pryor hat den amerikanischen Humor geprägt wie wenig andere Comedians. Er brach Tabus und entwickelte Gags, von denen heute noch Heerscharen von Gagscheibern profitieren. Auch weiße Witzbolde wie Conan, Jay Leno oder Robin Williams verdanken ihm unendlich viel.

Am Samstag ist Richard Pryor nach langer Krankheit mit 65 Jahren an einem Herzinfarkt gestorben. Er war einer der ganz ganz Großen. In den Tiefen unseres Archivs fanden sich zwei Comedy-Aufnahmen, die nicht unbedingt seine besten Nummern, aber sehr typisch für seinen Witz sind.

"ONDON -- An Eminem impersonator who beat a woman to death and stuffed her body in a suitcase is facing life in prison.

Christopher Duncan, 21, has the same hair style and tattoos as the rapper. He pleaded guilty in London on Thursday to killing 26-year-old law student Jagdip Najran.

A prosecutor said they met at a karaoke bar last year. Duncan took Najran back to his apartment and beat her over the head with an iron baseball bat until she fell unconscious, then stuffed her body into a suitcase. Duncan reportedly told police he was high on Ecstasy and LSD at the time.

In the video for Eminem's "Stan," an obsessive fan ties up his girlfriend, throws her in the trunk of his car and drives it over a bridge."
