Stones '72 tour exposed - With the release of their definitive album Exile on Main Street, the Stones sought to document their own burgeoning celebrity and self-mythology by hiring renowned photographer /filmmaker Robert Frank (known for his documentary study of madness Me and My Brother as well as the brilliant cover photography for Exile itself). The resulting movie was at once so dreamy and harsh -- crowded with scenes of the Stones nodding out, roadies balling groupies, and assorted tour hangers-on shooting up -- that the band refused to permit its release. It could have been a little closer to the gritty concept you guys started out with. Before the suits said "hey, you need a love story also." Seriously. Because you would have an instant classic now and not just this year's "Snakes on a motherfucking Plane." No, nothing wrong with a giant monster attacking New York, but maybe you should have kept the original name. The one with the date. Would have been more obvious for the audience in Neu-Kölln, that's for sure.

And the sequel is on the way already? Well, congratulations to the writer who is like 22 years old or something and worked his way up from "Buffy", "Lost" and stuff like that.

Man, relax! And do not write the sequel yourself. Sell the rights, buy an island and blame it on someone else.

Ein hervorragender Film über die Ära von King George II und gleichzeitig ein überaus gelungener Einblick in den Alltag der Musikindustrie. Kein "die Jungs auf Tour"-Quatsch, keine Anekdoten über stinkende Socken im Tourbus, nichts von all dem Klischeescheiß, den Männer so abkurbeln.

Urspünglich nur als Tour-Doku angelegt, gerät die Regisseurin mitten rein in eine Debatte um die Dixie Chicks, die man in dieser Form wohl nur in den USA erleben kann.

Es waren nur 12 Worte, ein kleiner Witz über den Präsidenten bei einem Gig in London. 12 Worte, die den Medien genügten um aus der erfolgreichsten Frauenband aller Zeiten über Nacht eine Gruppe von Staatsfeinden zu machen.

In jeder Hinsicht ein bemerkenswerter Film. Volle Punktzahl!

Eigentlich schon wieder ein Abgesang aus Hollywood und so langsam will man echt keine Referenzen an die 7oer mehr sehen. Echt nicht. Die 70er waren scheiße! Ihr jungen Dinger wart einfach noch nicht am Leben, aber damit will ich mich erst gar nicht rumärgern.

Ähnlich wie Ridley Scott sich mit "American Gangster" dann doch an die Genre-Konventionen gehängt hat, kleben die Gebrüder Coen inzwischen an einer Machart, die sie selbst mit geprägt haben. Und das ist unerträglich langweilig und sollte nicht vorkommen. Die Coens sind nicht Johannes Heesters. Was soll das? Darf man von Intellektuellen mit Geld nicht doch mehr erwarten als sowas wie eine bessere Verfilmung eines Romans von Henning Mankell? "Charles Bronson mit Anspruch", oder wie?

Huch, da wieder ein wenig Referenz und dort wieder ein büschen mehr Schauspielerei in Sachen Psychokiller...

Ich hab' mich gelangweilt.

Braucht Ihr die "Entertainment Weekly", die Euch erklärt, dass man man in Hollywood besser mal nicht schon wieder ausgerechnet New York von Außerirdischen attackieren lässt oder erneut einen Film über einen, ach wie liebenswerten Killer, aus Zelluloidland abdreht... Wirklich nur Plastikmenschen finden diese Sort von aalglattem Entertainment noch gut.

For many years, published sources stated that the film was made and distributed in 1943; Bann's later research, however, determined that Laurel and Hardy's footage was filmed on November 29, 1941, eight days before the attack on Pearl Harbor. The purpose of the short was to promote all the wonderful products made from wood, which was easily adapted into a plea for wartime conservation when the film was assembled for distribution. Shot on 16mm Kodachrome stock, THE TREE IN A TEST TUBE is notable for being the only existing footage of Stan and Babe in color, save for some home movies from the '50s and a few short clips from the long-lost THE ROGUE SONG.
