Stuff like Lord of Berlin by patriot84 ("Adolf Hitler did not commit suicide") or "Joe Anderson for City Counsel". Wait until Hollywood starts producing remakes of fan films!

South Park on Scientology "If you really want to enslave people, tell them that you're going to give them total freedom." -- L. Ron Hubbard boinboing reports: "Wednesday's edition of South Park tackles Scientology, in the typically oblique fashion fans of the show know and dig. But what's particularly interesting about the episode titled 'Trapped in the Closet' is that show producers tapped Mark Ebner for script consultation. The Hollywood journo and celebrity-dirt-digger wrote this legendary Spy magazine article on Scientology from 1996, which began: I am an ex-drug addict who has solicited prostitutes in my day. I've also masturbated and inhaled at the same time, and I have been arrested more than once in my life. I dropped out of high school, and I've been under psychiatric care. Oh yeah, and I owe the IRS roughly six thousand dollars that they are well aware of. Link to preview clip (bottom of the page).

Aquaman - Fish out of water Variety reports that Warner Bros. TV and the team behind 'Smallville' got together to produce Aquaman - the series. How lame is that? There is an old saying in the comic industry: "Aquaman doesn't work!" But, anyway: "Scribe-producers Al Gough and Miles Millar (Spider-Man 2) have signed on to create and exec produce an as-yet-untitled action drama revolving around a twentysomething Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman. Frog has made a put pilot commitment to the project, which has already begun casting. 'Smallville' vet Greg Beeman is aboard to direct the pilot. As with 'Smallville,' their successful reinvention of the 'Superman' saga, Gough and Millar plan to focus on character rather than cheese. Skein won't be called 'Aquaman' -- indeed, the 'A' word won't even be mentioned -- and Curry 'won't be talking to fish or riding a seahorse,' Gough said." MUNICH The trailer for Steven Spielbergs take on the terror of the Munich Olympics in 1972 is online. Dank Steven Spielberg werden die Deutschen und die Anti-Deutschen bald reichlich zu diskutieren haben! "The original title of the film was VENGEANCE - and that title creates an altogether different thought about a film regarding the Munich Olympics... as most people know, the people behind the terror of the Munich Olympics were each hunted down and killed. It was pure assassination. Something, "the good guys" aren't supposed to do." aintitcool.com

"Star Wars: Episodes I-VI - The greatest postmodern art film ever." by Aidan Wasley "As literary critics have long pointed out, the arbitrary yoking together of events in the service of storytelling is one of the fundamental characteristics of all narrative.(...) The audience's willing surrender to narrative coincidence is demanded by the story's need to conclude itself. But Lucas takes this self-consciousness about narrative artifice a step further: He makes explicit his theoretical interest in the mechanics of plot. As viewers, we take pleasure in the implausible events that must happen for the narrative contraption to snap shut in a satisfying way. But the characters come to understand that there is another agent, external to themselves, that is dictating the action. The Force is, in other words, a metaphor for, or figuration of, the demands of narrative. The Force is the power of plot." Over at Slate

"9/11 - The Movie" starring Nicholas Cage Update: the movie will be called "World Trade Center." "Oliver Stone has begun shooting one of the first Hollywood films about Sept. 11 in New York -- without recreating the large-scale devastation that's all too familiar to residents who lived through the 2001 attacks.(...) Most of the major action portraying the World Trade Center collapse will be shot on a Los Angeles sound stage. And although news footage of the towers themselves will be shown during the film, it will play on television screens in the background. 'We're not doing the 'Towering Inferno-Titanic' version,' said Michael Shamberg, who's producing the Paramount film with his partner, Stacey Sher." Fulls story in the Hollywood Reporter

Mirrormask (2005) "With MirrorMask, two legends of the comics scene -- illustrator Dave McKean and writer Neil Gaiman (creators of Sandman) -- have constructed a blend of live action and animation. MirrorMask tells the story of a girl coming of age and coming to terms with an ailing mother, and it unfolds against McKean's baroque, spectacular dreamscapes. This DIY film was made using over-the-counter software, and though it looks handmade, it is as visually extravagant as most studio animation." Full story in Wired
