Raid over Moscow "Back to the early 80's when the Commodore 64 the most powerful personal computer on the planet and the United States and the Soviet Union were locked in a bitter Cold War. Get a second life! Author Cory Doctorow will do an "in-game virtual booksigning" on July 24: "To do that, readers just have to bring their copy of his book to the event, and set it on a small table in front of Cory. To autograph it, Cory simply has to mouse-click the book, which causes a digitized picture of his real signature (with author's dedication) to be superimposed on the cover. So signing the virtual edition of his book requires about as much effort as it does when he takes pen in hand to autograph the tree-based version."

Virtual Reality strikes back One of the most underestimated formats is Quick Time Virtual Reality or QTVR. Even though it's pretty easy to stitch panorama-pictures together and create hotspots for navigation, I haven't seen much original stuff in QTVR. There were some nice experiments with moving pictures inside a QTVR-movie two years ago. Does anyone know what happened to that? Anyway, boingboing.net has posted some cool links with great QTVR-stuff: Cang Xin - Performance at Casula Powerhouse,
