What I Did Last Summer

blogbot2.jpg "What I Did Last Summer is an experimental graphic novel generated by blogbot, a software agent that generates graphic novels based on text harvested from web blogs. It uses cached versions of the My War blog (written by a US soldier in Iraq) and the Baghdad Blogger.

The protagonists of What I Did Last Summer are military and civilian units from the game Civilization 3. Blogbot crawls the web and takes snapshots of web blogs related to a user-specified theme. Then, based on the harvested text, a dynamic collage of images and strings is generated using a keyword-matching algorithm.

Superdudes

There was a japanese version of Spider-man (May 17, 1978 - March 14, 1979, 41 episodes) produced by Tôru Hirayama which had nothing to with Marvel. But that's nothing compared to the turkish masterpiece “Captain America & Santo vs. Spiderman.”

PUBLIC ENEMY RETURN TO COMICS IN 2006

"Public Enemy will be the stars of a new graphic novel, made with the cooperation of frontman Chuck D, that will debut in 2006. The book will be an action-adventure story that reflects the politics and ideology of the group, expressed in such modern classics as 'Don't Believe the Hype', '911 Is a Joke,' and the anthemic 'Fight the Power.'

'The reality is Public Enemy is a world-famous revolutionary, political hip-hop band that inspires young and old alike. The fiction is they are members of a secret underground organization called the Underground Railroad,' creator Adam Wallenta of American Mule Entertainment (AME) said during a recent interview with Glyphs. 'While they are touring the world they act as agents of peace and justice and help people whenever they are in need. They don’t have super powers but they still kick major ass. There will be lots of adventure and action as well as social commentary reflecting many of today’s issues."

More Marvel Movies

"September 6, 2005 - Marvel Entertainment, formerly Marvel Enterprises, announced Tuesday that it has raised the $525 million needed to begin producing its own movies based on characters in the legendary comic book company's massive catalogue. Marvel had previously been licensing its works to production companies, but now it will have complete creative control over the filmmaking process – not to mention potentially higher profit margins.

According to Marvel chairman and CEO Avi Arad, the studio is primed and ready to begin simultaneous development of 10 new film projects based on Marvel characters. Captain AmericaAvengers, Nick Fury, Black Panther, Ant-Man, Cloak & Dagger, Dr. Strange, Hawkeye, Power Pack and Shang-Chi are all setup and screenwriters will start being attached to the various projects on Wednesday.

The company added that the Marvel-produced projects will complement existing big-screen partnerships and on-going Marvel movie projects licensed to other Hollywood studios (Ghost Rider, X3, Punisher II, etc.).

Paramount Pictures, under its existing deal with Marvel, will distribute and market the newly announced films. The first movie chosen to go into production (not yet known) is expected to make its big-screen debut no later than 2008.

Marvel added that each production could be budgeted as high as $165 million and that the films will be developed with ratings no higher than PG-13 in mind."

Inspired by that famous Nazi hospitality, Hansi partakes in, and wins, a competition which sweeps her off to Prague to study as a Hitler Youth leader. You go girl."

Doonesbury CENSORED! Yes, that's what they call it!

"About a dozen newspapers have objected to the use of toilet humor in Tuesday's and Wednesday's "Doonesbury" comic strip, and some either pulled or edited the strip.

Kansas City-based Universal Press Syndicate, which distributes the strip to around 1,400 newspapers, said it had received some complaints from editors about a reference to presidential aide Karl Rove.

In the strip, a caricature of President Bush refers to Rove as "turd blossom." (This is, reportedly, one of the president's old joking nicknames for Rove.)" Full story at editorandpublisher.com The Doonesbury website si better than ever. The Daily Briefing is great!

Marjane Satrapi: "Persepolis-Eine Kindheit im Iran"

persepolis

Edition Moderne, 160 S., 22 EU

Londons Dynamic Duo

"Caped Crusaders fight real crime By Metro , 19 April 2004 Batman and Robin are back fighting crime - in Whitley. Two mystery men dressed as the Caped Crusader and his sidekick have scared away robbers in the town near Reading.

They also saved a stranded motorist and even shooed off two streakers from a football pitch.

'They just appeared - I saw them running down the road in Batman and Robin outfits,' said driver Michelle Kirby, who was pushed to a petrol station after her Peugeot 206 ran out of fuel.

'I was laughing so much. They stayed in character the whole time.' Ray Cox, 61, spotted the real-life superheroes sprinting through the town while shopping with his wife. 'Batman was quite a broad chap,' he said. 'They would scare a few muggers off."
