PRODUCTS:

I give you five Condoleezzas for that Apache!

Wars have an official logo and merchandising now.

Topps is the mayor company producing little pieces of cardboard also known as Baseball Cards. Topps also released a series of "Operation Enduring Freedom Trading Cards". Each pack contains only seven cards and one sticker.

What a rip-off! They made you pay for propaganda!

This is nothing new since the company has already produced Cards for the war in Korea and they
"...made three series of Topps Desert Storm Picture Cards which were extremely well-received by consumers and highly praised by military leaders for their informative content.."

This is what it say on the back of the package:

"An encyclopedic record of America’s war against terrorism. Cards contain biographical information on civilian and military leaders entrusted to guide us through this fight, statistical data, and photos of military hardware."

The website explained it a little bit better:

"Kids need to understand that the President (and his team) will keep them safe and that evil-doers will be punished. Our cards deliver the details in a medium with which they are familiar and comfortable. ...All it should be... and nothing that it shouldn’t.

...Not included are the disturbing images shown repeatedly on national newscasts. Instead, Topps has chosen to focus on America's strengths—its elected leaders, the security of its military, its worldwide support… and the courage and unity of its people."

Well, collect 'em all!

This was taken from the site for Operation Enduring Freedom Trading Cards from Topps. I'm just wondering, is this link dead or what? What happened? You're not selling those, Topps? Come on, I already ordered a hundred packs!

Here's a really good article written after the Desert Storm Trading Cards came out :
Picture Perfect War: Desert Storm Trading Cards and Media Coverage of the Persian Gulf War by Jim Neilson in Mid-Atlantick Alamack 1992, page 61-79.

Another comment on the new cards:

Bwah-ha! Some people have already produced a handful of parody-cards at fark.com more action cards found by Andreas of Dekaf
