ART:

1 YEAR OF WALLYWOODS IN WEISSENSEE, BERLIN

Photobucket

Congratulations, Paul! You're a trooper! See you tonight at the most spectacular art-event of the year (and the Kaputte Klaviere Orchester of course...!)

Paul Woods wrote: "On Saturday, 20 July 2007, Wallywoods opened its current 300 square-meter gallery space in Weissensee's "Peter Edel Culture House" with the launch of an exhibition called "10", a group show involving "10 artists from 10 lands" - plus a memorable night's worth of musical performances. One year later and we are happy - surprised too - still to be here. The original "temporary usage" contract was to run out at the end of January; after that, things looked doubtful because the building was to be privatised and all kinds of rumours suggested we would have to move on. However, our landlords, the local borough of Pankow, then offered renewal of the contract, on the condition of a mutual four week giving-of-notice period. So here we still are, in what is steadily developing as one of the most talked-about totally independent exhibition/events spaces in Berlin. To celebrate our first (and probably last) year in Weissensee, the art exhibition "23" includes 23 artists from 20 lands (4 from Germany). Needless to say, suitably exotic musician/performers are appearing too; most notably the amazing Isondú Tribe, all the way to Weissensee from Argentina."

Check out Wallywoods.com for more details, pictures, videos and all that.
