Der Rauch einer Brandbombe verstärkte die Assoziationskette bei den St. Pauli-Fans im Millerntorstadion. Auch nahe des Hauptbahnhofs lieferten sich laut Polizei Chemnitzer Fans Schlägereien. Auf dem Steindamm griffen sie Passanten an und beschädigten türkische Geschäfte. 18 Personen kamen in Gewahrsam."

Aus ihren Mienen spricht eine klare Botschaft: Wir haben zwar das Spiel 2:3 verloren, aber uns gehört die Straße. Rund um das Millerntor gehen die Beamten derweil mit Wasserwerfern gegen Hamburger Fans vor, die Barrikaden errichtet hatten. Die abfahrenden Busse werden mit Steinen und Flaschen beworfen. Erst nach einer weiteren Stunde kehrt Ruhe ein."

WFMU hat MP3s dieser großartigen Compilation von 1980, die als Kommentar zur Kommerzialisierung der neuen Deutschen Welle gedacht war. Die erste Auflage der Platte war sogar mit einem "Vorsicht Satire"-Sticker versehen.

"Es hat keine Disco hier" von Mittagspause fehlt leider, aber mit am Start sind u. a. Mittagspause, K.F.C., Der Plan, D.A.F., Die nachdenklichen Wehrpflichtigen mit "Ist Free-Jazz heilbar?" und Die Lemminge mit dem famosen "Why we hate the Residents", welches die Residents selbst auch nicht besser hätten machen können.

"Bei äußerst schwieriger Quellenlage lässt sich sagen, dass eine französische Zeitschrift namens "Encore Fatima" unter Berufung auf einen Artikel der finnischen Publikation "Ammenusastia" berichtet, dass es bei einer Tiefenbohrung in Sibirien im Jahre 1989 zu wahrlich gespenstischen Ereignissen gekommen sei.

Die Bohrung, an der laut "Ammenusastia" sowjetische und norwegische Wissenschaftler beteiligt waren, habe der Erforschung der Erdbebenentstehung gedient. Mit entsetzen mussten sie jedoch feststellen, dass über das Mikrophon das Geschrei menschlicher Stimmen zu hören war. Zunächst dachten sie an eine Störung des Tonbandgerätes. Doch dann nahmen sie das Geschrei unzähliger Stimmen wahr. Später stieg dann eine giftige Gaswolke aus dem Bohrloch auf. Die Messung der Temperatur habe 1100 Grad Celsius in der Höhle ergeben. Bei der Bergung des Bohrkopfes sei, so "Ammenusastia", eine grauenhafte Kreatur mit wüster Fratze und Krallen erschienen und habe die Techniker angefaucht, die in Panik den Platz verließen.

Dr. Azzacove sagte in Ammenusastia: "Ich glaube nicht an Gott und nicht an den Himmel, aber jetzt glaube ich an die Hölle- Wir sind davon überzeugt, dass wir die Decke der Hölle durchbohrt haben. Legendär nicht nur ihr Debut-Album "Black Monk Time" mit dem schwarzen Cover (zwei Jahre vor dem "White Album" der Beatles!). Die Jungs galten als "Anti-Beatles" und waren mit ihrer rotzigen Attitüde, den Tonsuren, dem Chaos auf der Bühne und der komischen Mischung aus Garage, Surf und sonstwas an der Erfindung von Punk nicht unbeteiligt. Die Typen sind guter Stoff für einen coolen Film über diese Zeit... (Idee: Könnte nicht eine real existierende prominente Band sich Tonsuren schneiden und die Monks spielen? Vielleicht sollte das mal jemand dem Mike Patton vorschlagen...)

Während Herr Wahrhol und Konsorten dererlei Freakzeugs in Manhattan betrieben, tourten die Monks durch Deutschland, wo sie mit ihrem Sound relativ isoliert vor sich hinmuckelten. Vergleichbares produzierten zu dieser Zeit sonst nur die Sonics und andere Bands aus der Ami-Provinz. Viel von diesem Zeug ist bei Crypt Records, dem besten Label der Welt, erschienen, wo man auch die Vinyl-Version von "Black Monk Time" bekommen kann.
